Osaka Takoyaki Museum, Osaka

3.6
#6 of 40 in Museums in Osaka
Watch the chefs flip various "takoyaki" balls with chopsticks at Osaka Takoyaki Museum, a food court featuring a wide variety of takoyaki outlets. A paradise for takoyaki lovers, you can get a portion from a vending machine or be your own chef as you enjoy the famous Japanese snack, invented and popularized by an Osaka vendor and revered in the local area. You can learn about the history of the dish, the utensils required to make it, and its ingredients, which essentially consist of diced octopus in a wheat-flour batter. Get some souvenirs and take part in year-round events and games at the museum, which sits a short walk from Universal City station. • Famous shops of the Osaka takoyaki are gathered together, eating out, very useful. Good hotel in nearby USJ hotel can eat slowly brought back to room. Eat, the seating is very crowded, so quite so difficult.

  • I put bad not because the place is bad but because the name is deceiving ... This is not a museum but a collection of restaurants you takoyaki. The takoyaki octopus balls are the batter, there is good in this area of osaka, not worth going there just for that.

  • After playing with the USJ, came to dinner. Osaka's famous takoyaki shop 5 stores. Takoyaki Ebisu shrine and souvenir shop. Takoyaki tastes considerably different by the merchant as good fun.

  • A lot of cute Takoyaki and Osaka-themed souvenirs here! You can find top 5 popular Takoyaki shops here, including Aizuya, Kukuru, Juuhachiban etc. If you're a fan of Takoyaki, it's a great place for you! It's within walking distance from universal studios and the university city JR train station. Located on 4th level at Universal City, it wasn't hard to find at all. Please note that you have to purchase your tickets via a vending machine prior to queuing up to collect your order. There are pictures on the option buttons, so don't fret if you can't read and/or speak Japanese.
  • This place has many unique variations on takoyaki, but the flavor of the octopus and the texture of the batter is not as good as you will find in downtown Osaka. Please go to Dontombori to eat Takoyaki instead. This museum does have a lot of cute gifts and mascots, though!
  • Not really a "museum". More like a food court that has 5/6 stalls that sell takoyaki and a huge souvenir store that you can find in Dotonbori. Not worth coming all the way here, unless you're going to universal studios already.
  • It's inside the Universal Citywalk. If you're a takoyaki lover like me, this place is surely for you. You would surely enjoy the different versions of takoyaki and you can also bring home some ingredients to make your own takoyaki.
  • A lot of takoyaki stalls. Taste okay

Where to stay in Osaka

The majority of Osaka's moderate and expensive accommodations concentrate in the districts of Umeda, Kyobashi, Namba, and Shin-Osaka. Base your stay in or near Minami neighborhood for proximity to a wide selection of shopping and dining options. For quick access to long-distance transportation to other cities and areas, look for hotels in Kita district. Many backpackers prefer the budget options in the Tennoji area, where the quality of rooms and prices vary wildly--call or check websites of specific establishments before you make reservations.
