  • Time allows me to go to history with the museum line, because I can recognize the history of the same buried culture. Exhibits more items, according to the time to arrange the row, the place is too big only stay half a day to do not finish, regret will come again next time

  • It was just a typical museum that we could see in everywhere. I would recommend here if you are really curious about the architectures of Osaka.  more »

  • Very interesting. Displays are lively and interactive. They have video presentations that bring up the olden times. A very different approach to museum displays
  • A modern, carefully designed series of exhibits laid out very sensibly. Some rooms are truly dramatic. I'd have given five stars if more of the OMoH's exhibits were captioned for non-Japanese speakers.
  • Excellent way to learn about the history of Osaka. As you progress through each floor, you're treated to a nice view of Osaka Castle. There are enough hands-on exhibits to keep young kids occupied. Ties in nicely with a visit to Osaka Castle Park.
  • Neat museum of Japanese history. I also saw some folks getting pictures with traditional Japanese clothing. You can see Osaka Castle from the escalator on the 10 floor from here too. It was free when we came here on a Saturday.
  • I usually put museum as the last resort of sunny days. Though this museum could lead to a thorough view of Osaka's history, as tourist your first target should still be the beautiful Osaka castle just a few hundred meters away

Where to stay in Osaka

The majority of Osaka's moderate and expensive accommodations concentrate in the districts of Umeda, Kyobashi, Namba, and Shin-Osaka. Base your stay in or near Minami neighborhood for proximity to a wide selection of shopping and dining options. For quick access to long-distance transportation to other cities and areas, look for hotels in Kita district. Many backpackers prefer the budget options in the Tennoji area, where the quality of rooms and prices vary wildly--call or check websites of specific establishments before you make reservations.
