Museum of Oriental Ceramics, Osaka
(4.3/5 based on 150+ reviews on the web)
Find masterpieces of East Asian ceramics at Museum of Oriental Ceramics, with over 6,000 items mainly from Korea and China. The three-story museum boasts one of the finest ceramics collections in the world, focusing on fine craftsmanship rather than the history of ceramics. Viewed in naturally lit galleries, these pieces belong to national treasures of three countries: ancient Korea, China, and Japan. An informative video explains how this treasure was unearthed, and how it's been preserved and displayed. After visiting the museum, stop for a drink in the tea salon. Using our custom trip planner, Osaka attractions like Museum of Oriental Ceramics can form part of a personalized travel itinerary.

  • Interested in the pottery of China, Korea and Japan, so could finally viewing. In the exhibit had a calm composure, really. Osaka Hiroyuki island and nearby is the historic buildings. I think suitable for walking.

  • Volunteer guide who politely humor even baking novice like me very well, had a clear interest. Blue, like light, not seen in natural light is good, making the building so come visit.

  • The Museum of Oriental ceramics, Osaka Municipal Museum of art, while Japan also come by the spectator. Various: target, art style fit the description very well with low-middle class. Like me, good for those who like ceramics, such as porcelain. The sheer scale of Tokyo like a Museum, but a clay pottery courses, you can enjoy the work of another.

  • Without the Kansai day pass....it cost Yen 1200..and audio guide Yen 500.....the works of the master Miyagawa Kozan is amazing...beautiful glazing technique and skill...extremely intricate relief sculpture on pottery with amazing coupled with realistic colour...just simply lost of words...
  • Fine collection of ceramics, especially Korean celadon ware. Almost no Japanese pieces, though. Detailed descriptions of individual pieces, next to nothing on broader evolution of the craft.
  • This is a unique place that allows you to know better all the history of pottery, great spot
  • Was nice to walk around and see the beautiful ceramics
  • Fairly small, but interesting exhibitions and reasonable entry fee.
