Matsuzakagyu Yakiniku M, Hozenji Yokocho, Osaka

(4.2/5 based on 280+ reviews on the web)
Taste the old days of Osaka at Matsuzakagyu Yakiniku M, Hozenji Yokocho, set in a narrow stone-paved lane of the city’s bohemian quarter. An Edo-era row with gastropubs, cafes, and nearby old theaters, the alley makes a popular spot to sample the city's nightlife and taste some great food. Smell incense wafting from the Hozen shrine tucked in the alley off the busy main streets, and see the famous mossy Buddha, the "kami" of fury, now fully covered in moss. Stop for a prayer, pour water over statues, or find an eatery and hunt for souvenirs along the alley, which sits 5 minutes walk from Namba station, exit 14. Put Matsuzakagyu Yakiniku M, Hozenji Yokocho at the forefront of your travel plans using our Osaka vacation planner.

  • Central area is old in the corner of the South side drift, but turned into modern aspects in the earlier fire. But I did spit several times or silky sushi, decent rates are prepared for you good? Is less a sure-fire dish, is a hideaway in the local area. Area of Osaka where nearby water hanging 不動sann

  • This just changes the atmosphere. Was familiar with an important temple for the local people visited, such as. Dining tastes of the Showa era coming in, is a nice atmosphere. I wonder if this is old good Minami was I.

  • Located in the heart of doutonbori, is always crowded with tourists. Street is a short walk. Pour water on the last. Stop by after the shrine next to the husband and wife zenzai famous still store because there?.

  • Over priced place, nothing special at all. Rude, unfriendly foreign staff( non- Japanese), mostly Taiwanese. Worst dining experience during our entire stay in Japan (Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka). If for the price they charge, probably the worst ever customer services ever received in my life so far. We have received excellent customer services from all other Japanese staff in other restaurants in Japan( either expensive fancy ones or cheaper ones) but definitely not this one so not sure if it's due to the majority staff being non- Japanese as they all seemed to speak Chinese fluently. Also no need to book this restaurant in advance at all, we just showed up at 6pm and did not wait at all. Most customers are tourists in this place. Terrible dining experience with the $$$$ we paid for the dinner. Strongly NOT recommended!
  • a huge disappointment. We ordered their most popular menu, which was around ¥1500 for two people. we were served 6 different types of matsuzakagyu meat. the 2 types-flap meat and sirloin steak-were great, but the other 4 types of meat were very tough and we had to chew on them for a very long time :( it was below our expectation. btw, the customers have to cook the meat. we tried everything to make the meat less tough but it didnt work. we let the waitress know, but nothing was done about it. the only good thing about it was its location at Dotonbori, a popular tourist site.
  • Amazing quality and service. We had the deluxe meat sample platter so we could easily try a variety of the meat on offer and it was a perfect way to experience the various cuts. We teamed it up with some seaweed salad and garlic rice which was a great combo. Our waitress could speak English as she was well traveled which added to the night as well. Highly recommend!
  • Voted #1 Japanese restaurant by TripAdvisor. And this place does live up to its reputation. Recommend any kind of meat for grill and stone bowl rice with beef.
  • We went to the store by the Dotonbori river for dinner tonight and had an awesome time. Food and service was more than excellent! There was even a birthday surprise at the end of the dinner :) Strongly recommend!!
