  • Please be aware that this is basically a maze like constructed building. The escalators lead to different floors, so different escalators are built for different levels and the escalators going up and down are not joined together like back-to-back like typically in department store. Some of them could be on the other side of a room. The exits are marked clearly you just have to look for them much more than other department stores. Once in fact you do find the location that you want like the Gudetama Cafe as an example then it's really nice. The place has lots of choices, good food, interesting stores with different styles. Good shopping all in all but do prepare to be slightly lost.
  • Best of the best. So great view in osaka city center HEP Five receives about 17 million visitors annually (2007), making it one of the most visited fashion boutique buildings in the Osaka urban region.[2] The core customers at HEP Five are young people, mostly female, from high school age to their early twenties.HEP Five receives about 17 million visitors annually (2007), making it one of the most visited fashion boutique buildings in the Osaka urban region.[2] The core customers at HEP Five are young people, mostly female, from high school age to their early twenties.
  • Great shopping mall, good variety of stores similar to Shibuya in Tokyo but slightly better priced and easier to navigate. With a giant whale greeting you on entry, ferris wheel and Joypolis arcade on the top floors, there is so much to do here you could easily spend the whole day. Highly recommended for foreigners in Japan who want to shop until they drop. And then get their pants scared off in the horror themed games upstairs.
  • This is the place where you can hop on the ferris wheel and enjoy the Osaka city view. It's just walking distance from Umeda Sky building.
  • It's a nice shopping centre, the usual big fashion brands are sold here, there's a Ferris wheel at the top of the building with really amazing views of Osaka. It's always crowded. Recommended.

Where to stay in Osaka

The majority of Osaka's moderate and expensive accommodations concentrate in the districts of Umeda, Kyobashi, Namba, and Shin-Osaka. Base your stay in or near Minami neighborhood for proximity to a wide selection of shopping and dining options. For quick access to long-distance transportation to other cities and areas, look for hotels in Kita district. Many backpackers prefer the budget options in the Tennoji area, where the quality of rooms and prices vary wildly--call or check websites of specific establishments before you make reservations.
