  • I found it quite disappointing, besides, how could a park or a garden that is, compete with the wonderful Koraku-en? Hard. Fortunately we didn't specifically, but only stopped on the way that was taking us to visit a temple.

  • Okayama Castle ruins is became the Park intact. Imagined a more spacious park, is surprisingly compact Park. Surrounded by river and the moat surrounding the next Korakuen and also have a lot of green. Tourists, not to mention a place of rest for citizens is not HEA poking around. I believe the Park is the difference between the high and low slope and stairs, but still worth a visit.

  • Crow Castle "Crow" is read as "Crow", "u", but the description panel at the entrance of the Okayama Castle, is read "ujou". I learned that is not black, with dark gray outer wall of the Castle "glass" is not. Okayama Korakuen garden tour of the Castle and walk.

  • Entrance area is a tram or taxi ride away from the station. Nice area inside and kid's activities on one of the floors.
  • Okayama castle is uniquely black. It's different from most castles in Japan, situated not on very high ground.
  • Worth to stop by, just next to koraen, quite a good view by viewing from top of the castle
  • Nice tour of the castle and of the park. Castle takes not more than 1h for the tour. There are some interesting things to be seen in the internal museum. Ticket for both castle and park is cheaper.
  • Nice park. Important structures have explanations in English. On the ground, you can see the demarcation of the old buildings

Where to stay in Okayama

As a busy transit area, Okayama offers many places to stay, with most of them in the mid-range category and a few catering to luxury-conscious tourists. Large numbers of modern mid-range hotels and budget accommodations are located to the west of the railway station, in the neighborhoods of Ekimaecho and Honmachi heading towards the Asahi River. There are many capsule hotels around the station, and some nearby internet cafes also offer budget overnight stays. Traditional "ryokan" (guesthouses) and youth hostels cluster around nearby Kurashiki.
