Okayama Castle, Okayama
(3.3/5 based on 600+ reviews on the web)
Admire the striking black facade of Okayama Castle, also known as “Crow Castle.” Built in 1597, the castle’s main tower was destroyed in the 1945 allied bombing and had to be reconstructed, while two watch towers survived the war. Enjoy the view from the castle grounds, nestled on a small hilltop overlooking the Asahi River, and see the fish-shaped gargoyles on the roof of the main tower, gilded during the celebration of the castle’s 400th anniversary. For travelers who use our custom trip planner, Okayama holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the Okayama Castle and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.

  • Nice castle, I was a bit disappointed by the inside content compare to the price. But the top point of view is nice.
  • The castle is relatively small, but there are some interesting exhibits inside as well as some quality kimonos that you can wear for photos. The admission price includes the gardens, so it's very good value.
  • The museum inside the castle is interesting and has some cool things you can touch and play with. The view is nice and the surrounding gardens are pleasant to walk through.
  • A great castle comparing with other japan castle because of it special appearance, but more worthy to travel the castle and Kourakuen within single day.
  • The exterior of Okayama castle appears to be very bright and shinning, somewhat luminous when one looks at it from far. The korakuen Gardens is located right next to the castle. This garden is really awesome.
