Kibitsu Shrine, Okayama

4.4
Architecture enthusiasts will not want to miss Kibitsu Shrine, the sole example of Kibitsu-Zukuri style architecture. Observe the structure's unique gabled roof, huge wooden pillars, and ornate metal fixings. Take a walk along the 400 m (1,312 ft) covered corridor that traverses the grounds. Don't miss the cedar tree in the serene gardens, reputedly 1,000 years old. • The deity enshrined here is Kibitsu-hiko, who subjugated Ura, the Demon in Kibi region. It has been told that this legend of Kibitsu-hiko became the well known story of Momotaro, translated as Peach Boy.
  • Kibitsu Jinja is one of the oldest shrines in western Japan. The main building is a massive traditional thatched roof. Well worth half an hour of your time.
  • I think that the shrine in Okayama Prefecture as well. A model of the peach and great kibitsuhiko only. Parking is plenty. Is unparalleled in other shrines with beautiful shrine honden and haiden in two lines, this long corridor. Ever visited twice, once when using the peach line, using a bicycle from bizen-Ichinomiya station again two Ichinomiya. Turns out I nokyo-sho. Then, like out the original nokyo-sho book based on momotaro and want was provided then it is.
