  • Absolutely fantastic, cleverly designed, with ALL the different Namahage of Oga Peninsula, history, videos, shop, attached shrines with a relevant role on the whole Namahage scene. Cannot miss the Nam...  more »
  • It was another visit during our cruise stop excursion. Really amazing place some distance from the town but laid out really well. The Museum is modern and so well kept. A short video describes the Nam...  more »
  • Asked on the day of the Lantern Festival of namahage Shiba. First that common entrance and next to the OGA mayama denshokan (1080 Yen-did with village life experience school) or to buy? Will be asked. Time can be reserved and the slower these days final 17:30-(was over by 6 pm) and time slowly saw the exhibit. Namahage region 110 bodies and pillared Hall is large and powerful! There was surface making demonstrations. More interesting is the makeover corner. Taking Smartphone offers me the Festival prior to their baldness. Good memories. The SAT is cold towards a shinzan Shinto shrine and extended opening hours on this day, at 18 o'clock. I was here.

  • Namage look rather scary for children, but there is great story behind that. To get here is kind of expensive if you dont have a car since the only option is taking the taxi which cost 4.000 yen one way from the nearest station. You can also watch Namahage in action in this museum, and expect to see some children to get scared.
  • Extremely interesting museum which describes the history of Namahage tradition in Oga peninsula. The location is in the middle of nowhere/forest. Nice place but especially the plays how Namahage "actors" behave is interesting. Many similarities with Finnish Santa Claus behaviour in Christmas evening. Sugoku omoshirokatta!
  • Worth a detour! I like the theory that Namahage originated from a band of foreigners washed ashore. 😀
  • Great Museum featuring a lot of historic stuff to do with the Namahage! Great live show too!
  • Daily demonstrations were nice and English translation of the movie in the museum using your smartphone was a good touch.
