Noboribetsu Bear Park, Noboribetsu

3.3
Meet the inhabitants of Noboribetsu Bear Park, an animal observation facility located at the summit of the mountain. Separated by age and sex, the 200 brown bears here have been raised in the facility, with the institution growing from a population of just eight in 1958. Head into the "cage for humans" to see the bears from their own perspective, and feed them salmon and meatballs, which you can buy on site. A museum reveals the history of brown bears on the island, their behavior in the wild, and their cultural importance to the indigenous population. • It was in the middle of the winter but the bears were all still out and there were many ready to be fed. They all looked healthy and well cared for  more »
  • Bear Park in Noboribetsu area, the location is not far from Jigokudani Valley which is very famous. To go to the area of the bear park have to climb first ropeway. Nice, because we can know the behavior of bears even interact with feeding though remains limited by the glass. Also good for family recreation because kids can add knowledge here.

  • Excited experience to see the Bears, Take cable car (10 mins) to this park. you can buy the snack food (Yen 200) to feed bears. Moreover, Ducks racing is very funny. you can also understand the history of Bear in the museum.
  • The male alpha bear is so clever! Returns the food in the pipe whenever he can't get to eat it. His growl resonates throughout the human cage!
  • Park is at the top of a hill, so you need to ride a gondola up. Gondola price is included in admission, but it was quite expensive at more than 2500 yen per person. Actual park is quite small with only two enclosures of bears (but with many bears j each enclosure). There is a somewhat run down and nondescript museum. The best part of the park is probably the view of a nearby crater lake.
  • At the end of October, all the leafs turned to golden and red. You have to take Cable car up to the bear farm, and you can see the best fall view of this little town. On top of the museum, you can see pacific!
  • Expensive. Not all that great. It's like a tiny zoo with only bears. Best part is the Gondola ride and view from the top of their building. It is funny to see all their signs saying that if you post any images of the inside of the park that they will have them removed. Probably because the conditions of the bears is pretty sad.
