Lake Chuzenji, Nikko

4.0
#2 of 50 in Parks in Nikko
Escape the urban jungle and find peace at Lake Chuzenji, created 20,000 years ago when the eruption of Mount Nantai blocked a river. Every season offers something special to behold, like the blooming of cherry blossoms in spring, bird-watching and hiking in summer, vibrant fall foliage, and the lake's winter festival. Admire the vacation houses built by European embassies around the shoreline, or head to Akechidaira Peak via cable car to experience a panoramic view of this natural haven. The lake drains through the 97 m (318 ft) Kegon Falls; visit the small village nearby for shopping, relaxation, dining, and plenty of parking. • Oxlips is beautiful and invited my friends and I went to Lake Chuzenji. Best time to visit is June. Take the bus for low-emission vehicles akanuma garage was raining unfortunately on the day on the beach by senju. Oxlips seems to be rare flower which is listed endangered plant. Your Lake Chuzenji, in 5-6 minutes walk from the bus stop. A short walk from hermit Hermitage there. Many oxlips bloomed in front of this hermit. It is the height of 50-60 cm of red, white, and pink flowers. Clumping so beautifully in bloom, is admirable. Flowers in 2017 is even less. There was talk the deer come and eaten. Close to the water's edge in bloom many oxlips and very clean. Less crowded because of the rain, so enjoyed watching the flowers slowly.

  • Glimpse into the world of ice reverse thought during the winter Lake Chuzenji does not open boat, lonely, though, is very good. Tourists are less than helpful.

  • Nikko bus, you can go to Lake Chuzenji. If you stay several days on Nikko and the weather is nice, it is nice to walk along the Lake. Not far away on foot you can visit the water falls "kegon falls. Provide a good half day for both. Taste the dango sold near the falls: yum!

  • Beautiful view and with the snow beside the lake in winter makes it more beautiful. A good spot for sightseeing and capturing some nice photographs.
  • Very serene lake with beautiful views. Popular vacation area for Japanese. Enjoy some of the local food (fish) sold around the lake. When weather is nice, take a boat ride in the lake. There are many areas you can walk at around the lake if you don't wish to go in the water. It is near other sites in Nikko, such as the Kegon Falls. So if you visit either site, do make sure to see the other.
  • It's really beautiful lake with nice hot springs. Perfect for relaxing walks in nature.
  • Nice place to be. In winter its snowy but not everyday so choose a day when its sunny it will be so awesome with white snow on the side and the lake and the mountain. Feels like russia in japan.
  • Peaceful and serene, best viewed from the town of Chuzenji, opposite of the Kegon Falls, just a few minutes walk from the main bus station.
