Bandai Bridge, Niigata

3.6
#2 of 21 in Sightseeing in Niigata
Bridge Tourist Spot
After having undergone three incarnations since the Meiji period, today's version of Bandai Bridge dates from 1929 and stands as a symbol of Niigata both for its Showa architecture and historical importance. As the first bridge across the Shinano River, it brought about greater commerce between communities on the opposite banks. After the destruction of the first two wooden versions, the third features a reinforced concrete design. (A nearby shopping district displays materials from the first two in an underground passage.) Embark on a boat tour along the river, or simply find a nice place on the banks to sit down on the grace under Japanese cherry blossoms and enjoy the view. With our custom trip planner, Niigata attractions like Bandai Bridge can be center stage of your vacation plans, and you can find out about other attractions like it, unlike it, near it, and miles away.

  • Because it takes 10 minutes on foot from Jr Niigata station and went by using bus. Pier in reinforced concrete vaulted 6, beautiful, and had a distinctive character. A refreshing wind across the surface of a river levee at the foot of the bridge is in the green area of Otaru, overlooking the Shinano River, majestic and beautiful arch bridge we wander, but stop horsing around and everything was just perfect.
