Naritasan Park, Narita

4.3
#1 of 9 in Parks in Narita
Head up to Naritasan Park, a green area with plentiful features, located at the back of a hilltop temple. Opened in 1928, the well-maintained park covers an area of 165,000 sq m (1,776,045 sq ft), and its expanse combines both Western and traditionally Japanese features. Dense wooded areas provide ample shade under the multicolored canopy of the leafy trees, while three lakes act as focal points for gentle strolls through the grounds. Stop in the onsite museum of calligraphy for a welcome taste of culture in this scenic oasis. For Naritasan Park and beyond, use our Narita trip planner to get the most from your Narita vacation.

  • I think it is about 20 minutes walk from Narita station. Naritasan Park is famous as a tourist attraction, while quiet, slow walking is. There were restaurants, a resting place. We recommend decided to walk everywhere you look that takes less than an hour to walk around the entire Park and delicious trees clean the air. I would like to go when a beautiful fall foliage now.

  • This place is pretty huge. The adjacent Naritasan Park is beautiful especially during the fall season. There is no entrance fee.
  • Took a transit tour while layover for 11 hours in Narita airport. Manage to tour Naritasan Park, first impression is peace and calm. very zen!
  • Large temple complex with beautiful gardens and ponds. I had some time to kill before my flight so decided to take a look instead of staying at Narita airport. Took the train and two stops later and about a 1km walk, I was at the park. Glad I saw the park.
  • It's a large and beautiful garden located behind the main building of the Naritasan Shinshoji Temple. Noteworthy are the flowering trees and shrubs around ponds. Great walking course very popular among the rich nature which includes the plum blossoms of spring and the autumn colors.
  • Beautiful, majestic, and spacious. The best part is, it's not crowded! It's better to experience a Japanese temple here than in Tokyo where there's always a crowd. Start from Omotesando Street and walk towards Naritasan. It's a beautiful walking tour.

Where to stay in Narita

The accommodations of Narita come in two main areas: by the airport and in the town proper. As such, they cater to those just passing through, and those here to see the sights. By the airport, you'll find business hotels, with simple rooms, gyms, and pools. In the town center, a collection of simple hotels and hostels sit next to the main train station, while a number of traditional "ryokan" (guesthouses) provide atmospheric stays on the streets just off the main thoroughfare leading to the temple.
