  • These buildings, like so many have already visited in Fukuoka & Kyoto, and so well maintained and a delight to visit. Very good English translation in signs.  more »
  • It is a very large temple. In great treasure Hall, lined with statues of three bodies. Goeido, fujitec ganjin jianzhen statue is not exposed only 3 days before and after 6/6, so visit the substitute image usually.

  • Tosjodaj-ji Temple is located slightly away from the station and it is slightly less well known than Jakusi-ji Temple nearby. And it is superb-here at times fewer tourists! The whole territory is surrounded by shady greenery, there are many pine trees and the freshest air, there is a small secluded pond with carps and even mossy glades. At the beginning of April here perfectly tsvela Sakura and irises in the Creek-just like the famous screen Ogata Korin! In addition there are several unique monuments of wooden architecture from the 8th century (which there a couple of ambarchikov stand-tenderness!-incredibly reminiscent of Russian peasant pre-Petrine architecture). And some fine examples of early sculptures. And if there is time, then I recommend to look into the Museum building (entrance on a separate ticket)-there's a wonderful exhibition of wooden sculptures! Yes, forgot to mention, in Tosjodaj-ji Temple is all in Japanese and workers-mature Japanese when I needed help (to describe which my Japanese lacked:)), had to search for English-speaking ... There were students from Kyoto in the queue to checkout:) All in all, highly recommend Tosjodaj-ji Temple for walk and moments of silence.
