Inspirock Rating:
2.6/5 based on 190+ reviews on the web
Enjoy a bit of serenity at Sarusawa-ike, an artificial lake dating back to the 8th century. Although legend has it that a court maid drowned herself here after falling in love with the emperor, today the area exudes tranquil ambiance. Feed turtles and ducks, admire elegant herons posing on the rocks, and look for the shrine peeking from the lush greenery. Relax on one of the many benches, and then enjoy a serene cup in the tea garden. In spring, take in the weightless wonder of cherry trees in blossom. If visiting in September, consider checking out the Uneme festival, complete with dragon boats, fans of autumn blooms, and lanterns floating on the water.
