  • Thick bamboo and proceed along the mountain after saw the shoso shunie (waste removal) use several lined up in front of the gate. There are many great views of Todai-ji Temple from the top of the stage and its background. Many people were taking pictures.

  • Todai-ji Temple is not only the great Buddha and South Gate. I think it can towards the top left at the foot of Mount wakakusa, February Hall, March Hall, April Hall, Todai-ji Temple of another face, another quaint feel. A I think that spot came in the individual, but brought no help unless you want to come stop by.

  • Been there for Shunie ceremony on March 12, 2019, it was only a five minute encounter although I queued for an hour (probably nothing compared to many Japanese people), and I was amazed how people could play huge fire torches made of pine trees at a national monument that basically made from wood! Seems crazy. But then, if to preserve a treasure means you need to kill the living culture that feeds its very own existence, the answer might be far more complicated. I therefore went there again the next morning and find the place surprisingly peaceful, although the smell of burning pine trees was still around, but the people who went crazy for the ashes of the torches were gone, and the whole place was quiet with the exception of the sound of strong wind in March. It felt like a different world compared with Todaiji, which is just 100 or 200 meters away. It’s just magical.
  • One of the best temples I’ve been to. There’s a festival in the first 2 weeks of March. Do check it out if you happen to be there!
  • Monks obtain a practice of Shuni-e ceremony in March. Noted on my wonder-tips site.
  • Cool Buddhist temple. Tourists attraction. Something to see while in Japan.
  • Nice and more quiet than the main one .Good place to relax and overlook the scenery.
