Where to stay in Nara

The historic city of Nara has a welcome number of accommodations for an urban area of its importance and popularity. Close to the main train station stand the main high-rise hotels in the city, all towering over the commercial and modern district that greets train travelers on arrival. To the east, things get a little more luxurious, with hotels close to Nara Park particularly well-appointed and rich in additional facilities. Standard hotels stand in a cluster to the southeast of the old palace ruins, while a number of pleasant, no-frills guesthouses can be found in the residential suburbs.

  • A visit here is a must. Beautiful views across the park and surrounding temples. One of the most atmosphere temples to visit. Free entry with a cute rest house close by.
  • I personally think this is the best temple among the area. It is entrance free and less crowded. Best spot for photo shooting.
  • A gorgeous place in the natural landscape. The place is peaceful and not as many tourists as the other spots of Nara Park.
  • In the first days of March there is a fire festival at this temple. I went there last year and it is truely impressive, absolutely sugoi!!!
  • This is where i thought the best view was in the entire park, there was also chanting and prayers for people who prefer to look inwards.
