Where to stay in Nara

The historic city of Nara has a welcome number of accommodations for an urban area of its importance and popularity. Close to the main train station stand the main high-rise hotels in the city, all towering over the commercial and modern district that greets train travelers on arrival. To the east, things get a little more luxurious, with hotels close to Nara Park particularly well-appointed and rich in additional facilities. Standard hotels stand in a cluster to the southeast of the old palace ruins, while a number of pleasant, no-frills guesthouses can be found in the residential suburbs.
