Heijokyu Ruins, Nara

2.7
Step back in time at Heijokyu Ruins, an ancient Japanese capital from the Nara period and the first historical attraction in Japan declared a World Heritage Site. In 710, the capital, modeled on the capital of Chinese Tang Dynasty, was established around present-day Nara. Covered by rice fields for centuries, the settlement was rediscovered in the late 1990s. The palace, once the center of the city, houses the imperial residence, the hall for national ceremonies, and bureaucratic offices. The site also features two gates, a history museum, and an exhibit hall with thousands of archaeological items on display. Anything not seen under construction. Construction of twist! Or introduce large billboards (photo) and introduces the diorama, peeking out from space you can see it.

Where to stay in Nara

The historic city of Nara has a welcome number of accommodations for an urban area of its importance and popularity. Close to the main train station stand the main high-rise hotels in the city, all towering over the commercial and modern district that greets train travelers on arrival. To the east, things get a little more luxurious, with hotels close to Nara Park particularly well-appointed and rich in additional facilities. Standard hotels stand in a cluster to the southeast of the old palace ruins, while a number of pleasant, no-frills guesthouses can be found in the residential suburbs.
