Art House Project, Naoshima-cho

(4.1/5 based on 240+ reviews on the web)
Art House Project allows Japanese and foreign artists and architects to turn abandoned buildings into large-scale art installations that help visitors discover the everyday life of a small fishing village. Scattered around the neighborhood, the houses are almost impossible to find without a map, some help from locals, and interaction with other travelers, which makes the whole experience seem like a treasure hunt. Do not miss a replica of the Statue of Liberty and the glass staircase at the Go'o Shrine. • This is a unique experience. If it's cold weather be where you need to be covered. Do not miss the small temples
  • Highly engaging, thoughtful project that really offers a lot as part of a visit to Naoshima. 6 separate locations easy walk or cycle apart, also giving you a great chance to experience the local area ...  more »
  • I think is a house in the country somewhere in Japan, is still maintained in the modern and the old house remodeling, etc would be helpful. I still walk to foreigners, about two hours walk so very pleasing.
