Where to stay in Nanjo

Like in most cities in Okinawa, Nanjo offers a contrast of basic lodgings and expensive, fancy resorts. Hotels tend follow the coastline south and east of Nanjo, with luxurious options perched on the hilltop above the city offering views of Nakagusuku Bay. Bed & breakfast-type pensions are the most common mid-range options, but you can also find inexpensive "ryokan" (traditional guesthouses) close to the beach. Inexpensive guesthouses can be found on Ojima Island, just off the coast and accessible via bridge.

  • This beach has so few people and is quite long. The water is very clean. Free parking can be found on the side of the road. Lots of kitesurfers on the farther end of the beaches. Can be a bit windy.  more »
  • It's a great place to chill and just do nothing on a hot sunny day. There is a glass boat ride there and some water sports activities to do, but we didn't try them out. We did swim in the sea, recomme...  more »
  • We caught the bus from the Naha bus terminal (actual stop is down the street from terminal) to Nanjo. Took about an hour to get to the end of the line and we caught a taxi for 5 minutes to get to the ...  more »

  • This beach is 1 hour away by bus from the Maha Terminal.its a gorgeous beach for pictures but not so much for swimming, the water is swallow and there's a bunch of corals with makes walking in the water also difficult. The sand is rough but very clean. There's only one restaurant to eat I'm there so take your food
  • It is a nice place to chill and get some nice tan. Very quiet and great views. A lot of wild animals around.
  • Not worth coming all the way there. Has a nice view but the beach is full of boats. Not suitable for swimming.
  • The beach was really enjoyable. You can rent tents for ¥500 per person for 3 hours. There are snorkelling experiences that you can enjoy. At the Nepalese Cafe you can enjoy vegetarian food options. The water wasn't very deep as the tide was going out.
  • Its was amazing to see different kinds of fish under water through a glass boat!
