Yachimun Street, Naha

3.8
#1 of 9 in Neighborhoods in Kyushu-Okinawa
Instead of all the neon and modern Japanese style, Yachimun Street offers something completely different: a limestone-paved road full of ceramic studios, stores, and galleries. The street came to prominence 300 years ago, when the Ryukyu administration decided to gather all the potters in one place for a singular purpose--to produce ceramic jars. As you explore the calm neighborhood, visit the onsite pottery museum to learn about the history of this area. Observe local artisans as they pay homage to their heritage and make works of art on a daily basis. If you love the craft, you can also join the pottery-making classes to hone your skills with professional guidance. I went to after visiting the Makishi public market. A descent down a gentle Hill while peace Street towards the head. Nice yachimun (pottery) got there. Store experience. There are many small shops in children's care please try them. Is a good atmosphere.

Many pottery works by. Spectacular. A convenient location and away from international. Take the time to relax. Maybe I should because there is little distance in time taken with room to spare. Many small shops are flecked with will. Take a stroll in the Sun in the summer, but unfortunately was exhausted. Give a damn.

Every time I go to Naha, will be visited. It would take Okinawa with love, every heavy baggage and go home. Yachimun (pottery) and tavern atmosphere for Naha from book two, entering into the alley and there are small shops, cobblestone lanes. I think you may end up one day just wandering around here much walk tastefully area.
