Shrikinjocho Stone-Path Road, Naha

4.1
#6 of 146 in Things to do in Naha
A winding cobbled lane flanking the south side of Shuri Castle, Shrikinjocho Stone-Path Road once represented a major thoroughfare frequented by high-ranking samurai. Constructed during the 16th century to link Shuri with the Naha port and southern side of Okinawa, the path was originally 10 km (6.2 mi) long. Today, only 300 m (984.2 ft) of this historic route remains. Tread carefully along uneven ground, past 300-year-old akagi tree groves. At the base of the slope, take a break at the open-air rest house, where you can relax on tatami mats and listen to the soothing sounds of the nearby spring. • Taking a stroll in kanagi, stone-paved road we have visited SHURI Castle and headed south from the hit of shurei-Mon gate. Moving soon, cobbled descent (efeu) (? ) On the road followed by a stone wall covered with cobblestones. Walk through the streets of old and sort photos and written "ishigantou" and had a nice little Cafe along the way, the stone wall, while good Naha enjoyed plenty. However, ivy-covered stone walls around "hub note! "The display is in several places, I nervously passed.

  • I loved this walk. I did it downhill and slowly. Uneven stone slabs. Atmospheric. Locals going about their business. Old ladies traversing it like it was flat ground. Schoolgirl reading a book as she ...  more »
