Shrikinjocho Stone-Path Road, Naha

(4.1/5 based on 460+ reviews on the web)
A winding cobbled lane flanking the south side of Shuri Castle, Shrikinjocho Stone-Path Road once represented a major thoroughfare frequented by high-ranking samurai. Constructed during the 16th century to link Shuri with the Naha port and southern side of Okinawa, the path was originally 10 km (6.2 mi) long. Today, only 300 m (984.2 ft) of this historic route remains. Tread carefully along uneven ground, past 300-year-old akagi tree groves. At the base of the slope, take a break at the open-air rest house, where you can relax on tatami mats and listen to the soothing sounds of the nearby spring. • Leave your flip flops and high heels at home. This is a very steep stone path that is quite difficult to walk up. So my advice is to walk down it from the castle then get a short cab into Naha or its ...  more »
  • 靜謐的古道,3月初來剛好櫻花盛開,又沒甚麼觀光客,逛起來很舒服,中間也有一個休憩站,累了能靜靜坐著享受這寧靜。  more »
  • Stone path that maintains the original stones of the construction period of the Shurijo Castle. As slope and via made of stone, I think not recommended for people with difficulty of locomotion/carts.
