Kokusai Street, Naha
(3.5/5 based on 1,200+ reviews on the web)
Packed with eateries, entertainment venues, bars, and stores, Kokusai Street represents the city's busiest thoroughfare. Stroll down the busy sidewalks to browse the wares sold by stands and shops along the way, which range from hole-in-the-wall outlets to upscale chain stores offering big-name brands. Pop into the shopping arcades that split off from the main street to enter a world of fruit stands, clothing shops, and other establishments, generally operated by small-time owners. Afterwards, grab a drink at one of the many surrounding bars and enjoy some live music or karaoke. Work out when and for how long to visit Kokusai Street and other Naha attractions using our handy Naha travel itinerary planner.

  • On a Sunday afternoon was pedestrian for the dusty does not. December off-season was further from what was then is very quiet. Temperature is not too hot, slow walking is excellent too. Off-season Sunday lunch is recommended.

  • Every time I go I know does anyone say Naha Kokusai Street is pretty swapped shops. It's funny how things change, of course, are long-established shops is alive and well, is fun every time. Of course, in the alley go entirely atmosphere differs and is double the fun.

  • Long street with hundred of toy shops, clothes souvenirs, food and restaurants. This where we got most of our shopping in Japan for souvenirs to take back home. Goods are expensive in Japan and Tokyo ...  more »

  • One of the few highlights in Naha. Expensive for shopping and eating along this strip but that is to be expected. An interesting walk, especially down the pedestrian laneways.
  • Reminds me of the Waikiki strip in so many ways. Vibrant and exciting every night. Well worth a visit for the great shopping and restaurants.
  • When going to Okinawa cone here. Get some ice and snacks. The local sweet potato souvenirs are the best. Most also provide delivery service of souvenirs.
  • When it comes to Japanese shopping streets, Kokusai street doesn't disappoint. The main downside of the street is that it is clearly geared to sell to tourists, so some items can be more expensive here than a few blocks away.
  • Walked up and down these streets. Still fun, expensive for souvenirs and food though.
