Garden Nature / Park
Wander around Tokugawa-en, an elegant Japanese landscape full of history and serenity. The garden's origins date back to the Edo period; today it embodies the modern samurai culture. Walk through the original wooden black gate, which survived the destruction of World War II. Follow the stream from a majestic waterfall that flows to the central pond. As you explore, look for peonies, Japanese apricots, irises, maples, and camellias, depending on the season. Stop by the restaurant for some fine dining. For Tokugawa-en and beyond, use our Nagoya family vacation planner to get the most from your Nagoya vacation.

  • Nice and quiet place in centre of Nagoya. Bit too crowded on Constitution Memorial Day, though. The waterfall is somehow nice too, but way smaller than you can see in other ad pictures. There are few places to relax, like small summer house, or a tea house with nice overview of the pond.
  • Not my favorite but I can understand why people would enjoy it. I visited both park and museum and was kind of still "hungry" for more. One good thing is that there are lockers for your bags.
  • Amazing place to see with really cool artifacts from the history of Japan. Would be nice if we could take pictures without flash atleast but I understand. Really cool place. Great garden on site as well.
  • Slightly crowded garden. Acceptably calm and relaxing. Well maintained.
  • Always a little oasis of peace. A great place to walk or to just sit and think at a slower pace.
