Where to stay in Nagoya

The central district, just south from the castle and its gardens, houses the bulk of accommodations in Nagoya. You'll find a good range of standard hotels, with onsite restaurants, simple rooms, and perhaps a pool in this area. Look slightly to the west, or closer to the castle,to find more luxurious accommodations. Across the surrounding residential areas, take a look close to the metro stations to find some of the most conveniently located, but budget-friendly hostels and guesthouses.

  • The ticket price is quite high for such a small and run down museum. The exhibitions are rarely of note and mostly feature postwar Japanese art. When big-name art collections come through (like Van Gogh) it's primarily a collection of minor works with perhaps one better known piece. Once in a while there will be a better contemporary show, but almost every time I've been here there is surprisingly little to look at, four or five artists being shown in the entire building, as if they couldn't find enough work to show.
  • Pretty good exhibits. Aichi Trinalae right now but the best works are not displayed here. Better go to the aichi arts center for the really good artists
  • A nice building and the museum shop has some interesting souvenir. Don't forget to see the sculpture of Antony Gormley in the garden.
  • The museum house the works of Modigliani's -girl with a pigtail, Soutine,Marc Chaggal,Frieda Kahlo and Diego Rivera.
  • Came here during the art festival.. The exhibition was.. minimalist...
