Strolling along Nakashima River you’ll encounter an array of scenic stone bridges, one of which is Spectacles Bridge (Meganebashi), named for the reflection of its arches in the water, resembling a pair of eyeglasses. One of the oldest stone arch bridges in Japan, it was built in 1634 by a monk and is deemed an Important Cultural Property. On a pleasant riverside walk, stop by and admire the famous bridge, or take a postcard-like photograph of the spectacled reflection if the water is still.
