Nagasaki Penguin Aquarium, Nagasaki

#3 of 8 in Zoos & Aquariums in Nagasaki Prefecture
Nagasaki Penguin Aquarium offers a glimpse at nine different penguin types, including rare species. Meet the large, gentle king penguin, as well as the little penguin--the smallest penguin species in the world. The aquarium lets you get up close to these lovable creatures, and children can delight in feeding and petting them. Row a kayak in the nature zone--an outdoor part of the compound--and then explore the biotope environment. Other than penguins, the aquarium also holds fish. • On the opposite side of the Sasaki Fire Station, there are public buses to the Aquarium, but there are more people going to the Aquarium that day, and stop for a short walk to the entrance. Enterprises are really good, but unfortunately the enterprise aquarium does not have too many note slots of goods, otherwise there must be a lot of souvenirs. In-room meals have a business-style menu.

  • Opened in 1959, it is a historic aquarium. Penguin-based, although the museum is small, but well-equipped. It is worth mentioning that the museum can wear penguin clothes for free to take pictures. (Foreign students can be free of charge on the basis of a card and student card)

  • Such a beautiful little aquarium/zoo for penguin lovers! I really felt like I was able to get in touch and close to the amazing penguins there. We were able to watch the feeding time shows where they feed the different kinds of penguins and tell fun facts about them!
  • The place maybe a little smaller than expected. But the amount of penguins they have are plenty and amazing. We had teenagers and they enjoyed themselves very much
  • Nice quiet place with nothing much except PENGUINS! See that rope line along the beach? That's the only thing separating the penguins and you! See the school boys? They're lining up to touch the (poor) penguin! See the school girls? They are so kawaii! (Ditto the birds)
  • Lots of info about penguins. And lots of penguins. A teeny bit run down, though. Good for kids!
  • It takes 30 min. from Nagasaki downtown by public bus. We did feeding to penguins! So fun!!
