Kazagashira Park, Nagasaki

3.7
#7 of 31 in Parks in Nagasaki
Enjoy panoramic views over Nagasaki at Kazagashira Park, a green spot overlooking the harbor with its long suspension bridge. Quiet and attractive, the park features good observation decks. Around 35 minutes walk from the nearest station, the tricky-to-find park rewards your persistence by providing an excellent lookout over the surrounding area. Find the statue of legendary warrior Sakamoto Ryoma with his arms crossed; it stands on peak of the park’s steep hill. • Dragon horse statue overlooking Nagasaki. Is great, but you want conducted pruning of the trees in the area. Expands Branch, landscapes unlimited, we were spoiled.

  • One of my favorite parks to visit for a beautiful view of Nagasaki City! I climbed up via steps through a cemetary off of Shianbashi tram stop and though it’s a workout, it’s worth it. The cherry blossoms are beautiful, a statue of Sakamoto Ryoma can be found here, and there’s a small art museum (free admission).
  • I had a morning hike from my hostel near Nagasaki Station to Kazagashira Park and it took me around half an hour. Along the way I had to climb long flights of stairs through a cemetery. After passing through the cemetery, there are clear signs pointing to the observation deck at the summit. After I reached the top, I was rewarded by great views of the city and the harbour, without the crowds and noises that plague Mt Inasa. There is also a statue of Sakamoto Ryoma, a legendary warrior who played an important role in Japanese politics in the 19th century. As the park is located to the east of the city, a morning visit will give you better photos of the city as the sun is behind you.
  • Nice views of Nagasaki along with Sakamoto Ryoma
  • It's a long walk to the top from the nearest tram stop. The night view from the observatory could be amazing, but is unfortunately obstructed by a number of trees. Better night view from Nabekanmuriyama Park.
  • Great place to see the sunset and feel the vibe of Nagasaki.
