Former Glover Residence, Nagasaki
(4.2/5 based on 220+ reviews on the web)
Nestled in lush gardens, Former Glover Residence probably served as the inspiration for Puccini's "Madam Butterfly." Scottish merchant Thomas Blake Glover built the house in 1863, blending traditional Japanese architectural elements with Georgian-style exterior. Notice the structure's latticed arches, stone-floored verandas, French windows, and British chimneys mounted on a Japanese roof covered with demon-headed tiles. In the park, look for the statues of Puccini and Miura Tamaki, who played Madam Butterfly. • After the views offered by Mount Inasa, the gardens of the Museum Glover give another fantastic look of the city and its port area. Must-see!

  • Indeed, around this House was crowded with many tourists. Without saying a Word and is the residence of the Tokugawa shogunate, famous traders Glover. No-and I truly feel the weight of history is this man's House. Because it is actually visited, ryoma also said. And were still more room to harbor a dragon horse.
