  • We got here by bus to Manza Onsen - took a shinkansen from Tokyo Station to Karuizawa Station(costs about 5910 yen per person for reserved seats and it took about an hour). Once we arrive at...  more »
  • If you are a first time onsen user, Nishinkan onsen is one of the best ones. This hotel offers 6 types of pools with different kind of water full of minerals. Facilities are very clean. Because of.....  more »
  • Manza is for the real hot spring lovers, in contrast to the famous Kusatsu hot spring. Beside finding the cache hidden near one of the oldest spa called "Houkoku-kan," I would like to introduce this.....  more »

  • This ski area is a small area but width enough to enjoy riding ski or even snowboard. There are slope that you can practice to turn. Its proper for who have experience riding not first time rider. The view at the top of mountain was great. I found powder snow and slurpy too in March. One more thing I like here is that I can enjoy Manza onsen after ride ski/snowboard. High sulphur contain onsen is very good for your skin health and good for relax your muscle. Highly recommend.
  • The snow is awesome as often in Japan, but the resort is quite small (9 lifts total). No fancy stuff neither. Lifts cost 7200 yen for 2 days so the price is cheap at least.
  • Manza is an in-between gem. It's not a large ski resort but it is rarely overly crowded and if the conditions are good you can really enjoy yourself. The restaurants can get a bit overwhelmed with guests but they have decent systems to eventually get you seated and fed. Numerous onsen baths allow for the perfect apres ski activity.
  • A cute little ski slope run by the local Prince Hotel. Not very many runs; you can learn the layout in about an hour, but it has a few challenges nonetheless. The fun part is the ungroomed area up near the summit (which you have to hike to), which tends to have some powder if you get there early in the day. Ducking the ropes and going off-piste is also a good time (and a lot of people seem to do it; there are whole unauthorized trails that develop out of bounds throughout the day).
  • Lovely hotel. Amazing onsen. Yummy food. Good snowboarding. There was heaps of powder when we went too!
