Togakushi Shrine Okusha, Nagano

4.6
Head up the foot of the mountain to find a number of sacred places when exploring Togakushi Shrine Okusha. Visit the five separate Shinto shrines in three different shrine areas--known as the lower, middle, and upper--taking the time to walk between each of them, absorbing the relaxing atmosphere of the woodland, and learning about the stories behind the shrines as you go. With each of the three shrine areas located about 2 km (1.2 mi) apart, the walk between them can be tough, but richly rewarding for those able and willing. • Gosha pilgrimage from the bottom by treasure light, fire, son, socialising, Kuzuryu Dragon and Oku Hoko-company most people less, yet seeing aligned long staircase, Shinto shrine of femininity was the best. Might be unstoppable inside parking is along the road climbed a bit to the right at the front gate is narrow. Tuesday, his son, two much, until the back walk goes on and on. Not looked after like a quaint and well kept, the grass thatch roof as gate way and... about 20 minutes walk on the left side has a toilet. From here another 1 climb of the last. Suspect dubbed the roof of the shrine under construction in Kuzuryu Dragon, and tool shed, beside the Kuzuryu Dragon company was removed from the back plate was loaded. It might be down after work. No cars are allowed, so building and loading/unloading of the waste is difficult. Concrete is the inner shrine. I'm from snowy? Noisy period of construction, the Museum transferred somewhere? Gosha and pilgrimage, especially a Gosha pilgrimage commemorating or saying good you could visit, but it's nothing of Shugendo St. area hidden mountain. Knowing togakushi was gas but unfortunately didn't get to see the

  • It is the most interesting of the three temples, but you need to do with a beautiful climb 2.5 km

  • This shrine is currently under renovation but to be honest, as per other reviews, it is about the journey to this shrine rather than the shrine itself. It's approx a 30-40minute walk from the bus stop...  more »

  • A peaceful place that totally different from popular tourist spot. Really worth going.
  • I went to the GW. Near the shrine, near Kuzuryu Dragon and stairs there to still covered with snow, slide to. Snow shoes, not harsh sense of achievement available. Of nice scenery, cedar trees will be humbled. People quite a lot during the tourist season, the traffic in the parking lot with cars around. We recommend early morning worship.

  • Random new year's drive, I visited called casually. Seen at sunrise in the back thinking as I walked the snow from the parking lot, there was walking while looking this way. And non-far abandoning Sunrise, 7 o'clock, I thought maybe I was just rises, from behind a mountain and get. We have good memories.

  • During the winter season the last obstacle in front of the shrine. Just the view from the back, and after that achievement is the best. Former zenkou-JI mountain at the entrance was a little off, approaching, and in front of me. I think so go Skate socks and other clothes to bring. Also somehow slippery in the gate, they often slip. Of course, vending machine from the back entrance. I would have a drink there quite rapidly with distance. You'd buy in vending machines, such as socialising.

  • I went to 5/3. You want to go look at the photos and headed in the Golden thoughts. There were a lot of people, but staff were very helpful. Way to the shrine is "far away! "And I thought at first. Is that is had to suffer at all. We have the feeling a cold wind and snow in some places at the beginning of May. Cedars are mysterious and beautiful.

Where to stay in Nagano

A popular resort city, Nagano offers a wide variety of places to stay, ranging from luxurious, elegant heritage inns to backpackers' hostels in former temples. Five-star establishments can be found outside the city, while hostels tend to cluster around the railway station. Business-style, mid-range, and budget hotels abound in the downtown area and slightly to the north, underneath Zenko-ji Temple. A number of affordable "ryokan" (guesthouses) and other temple lodgings can be found in the same area.
