Where to stay in Nagano

A popular resort city, Nagano offers a wide variety of places to stay, ranging from luxurious, elegant heritage inns to backpackers' hostels in former temples. Five-star establishments can be found outside the city, while hostels tend to cluster around the railway station. Business-style, mid-range, and budget hotels abound in the downtown area and slightly to the north, underneath Zenko-ji Temple. A number of affordable "ryokan" (guesthouses) and other temple lodgings can be found in the same area.

  • The bunker was drilled to transfer and the Imperial General Headquarters as a base the last mainland decisive battle to the end of the second world war. Is published in about 500 m range more than 10 km total length. Here's free admission. Helmet provided following the instructions at the entrance to the shed and get inside. Head out and not walk near the entrance the ceiling is low, Crouching, but go during the height is 2 m or more. Feel the rigors of work traces remain in rock drilling rod, truck carried the sediment excavated ruins. Never fun place, or not to do something, you should bear in mind, is not seen here as a Japanese.

  • It is to transfer to the authority of the Emperor and the Government at the end of the Pacific war, dug underground bunkers. You can visit the 500 meters or so of them. Put the helmet on and enter the inside. Construction was suspended, is dark and lumpy was only the rock, but still thought provoking about the war.

  • On the verge of World War II in the 10-month long dug underground just this ones great deep thought. Wonder who was in labor was very much thinking. Was told during the cold, and in the winter it's seems warmer than outside. Hard to walk very rough underfoot, so caution is required.
