Kumano Nachi Taisha, Nachikatsura-cho
(4.4/5 based on 340+ reviews on the web)
See the fusion of Buddhist and Shinto influences that separates the region from others at Kumano Nachi Taisha, a UNESCO-protected Shinto shrine occupying the same plot as a Buddhist temple. Located halfway up the mountain, the shrine stands at 350 m (1148 ft) above sea level, with its impressive backdrop featuring the tallest waterfall in the country. The shrine's architecture and spiritual importance combine with the scenery to give the area an atmosphere of reverence and calm. Part of the Kumano Kodo pilgrimage route, the shrine--along with others on the 1000-year-old pilgrimage route--has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. • Kumano daimonzaka went up from Daimon Hill car park (free). It is dangerous not because of the paved road from old athletic shoes. 拝memasu osugi of the 800-year-old also is on the way. Nachi Taisha station can be reached by car, but way less than an hour, so take a look at Kumano experience then. You can visit seigantoji Temple → 御滝 → Nachi shrine. Daimonzaka is faster than go back winding road that takes about 40 minutes, going down the mountain. Winter is sweat or have (lol)

  • 2 night 3 day trip, is the first day of Shingu, 二日 between Nachi came round. By the day went to the Kumano Sanzan Kumano hayatama Taisha and the rest, to hongu Taisha one will not afflict them. Have the mountains tour went happened to be bimodal, so not even. Begin with shrines is the charm as the building is not so much. What route was climbed the stairs normally, shop-lined through. From climbing up there because we had to trail from Nachi Falls, stopped the seigantoji Temple visited. Usually the opposite is. Well you can either. Building is still shiny, charm, you shouldn't. Precincts in the camphor tree worthy of salvation?
