Inokashira Park, Musashino

Scenic Walking Area
Breathe in the fresh air of Inokashira Park, a welcome green lung offering a range of attractions. Founded in 1918 in what was then a suburban area, the park stands in testament to the growth of the capital throughout the 20th century, and now offers welcome respite for city-dwellers. Admire the blossoms and the main lake, taking a boat trip out onto its waters to gain a new perspective on the park. A small shrine, petting zoo, and aquarium form the park's cultural highlights, making for good focal points during a number of long ambles around the grounds. • The most pleasant things in life are usually free. A walk done by the river in Inokashira Park with my family throws up the most beautiful part of my 2 weeks vacation in Japan. You can see why the loc...  more »
  • Proximity to Kichijoji Station, good. I went to cherry blossom viewing. Cherry trees than people. Toilets are lined with fine, so it is safe.

  • Visit with cherry blossoms. Large crowds is the road through the Park from the train station. Cherry blossoms in the Park's paved though, but still remains, to blossom in no place to stand in crowded. Long queues also boats.

  • There's something for everyone in the family. Large playgrounds and boating facilities, cozy cafe, a zoo and the famous Ghibli museum. Very accessible from Inokashira Koen Station or Kichijoji Station.
  • To the Zoo management and government. I can not believe how cruel and without heart you can be. You are projecting the stereotype of the Japanese people. No emotion, no heart and cruel. May you die and end up in a small grey confined space. And die again and again and again.... If I was Obama I would stay away for another 100 years.
  • Let me start off by saying I have never been to this horror show they call a zoo. However, I have read the incredibly sad story of their elephant Hanako. Hanako recently died after being alone for 60 years. Words fail me so I can not express the extent of my sadness for this poor elephant or the burning anger I feel toward the people who own and run this zoo. The utter cruelty of keeping an elephant in a concrete box, with no tree, no grass, no other elephants, for 60 years, fills me with a red-hot rage. At the very least, this cruel zoo should be closed down, and more appropriate, the people responsible for it should be thrown in prison, in solitary confinement, for at least 60 years.
  • One of my, if not the most, famous park in Tokyo. No matter what time of the year, you will enjoy the view. The pond is full with couples in small boats and the shrine is lovely to look at. Very charming at night!
  • Nice park in a Tokyo suburb. Close the cool hub called Kichijoji. Near Musashino University so a younger crowd also mixed families. Buskers around. Can play in swan boats on the pond. A nice break from the urban jungle.
