Aoshima Island, Miyazaki
Categories: Islands, Nature & Parks
Meet the friendly feline inhabitants of Aoshima Island, an island known for its large population of cats. In fact, cats outnumber humans by a ratio of around 6:1 on the island, a fact that becomes immediately clear when arriving on the twice-daily ferry into the harbor. The island, 30 minutes by boat from Ehime prefecture, was home to around 900 people in 1945. Cats were brought to the island to help the fishermen catch mice that were getting onto their boats, and the population has grown steadily ever since. A visit to Aoshima Island represents just the start of the adventure when you use our Miyazaki trip itinerary planner to plot your vacation.

And Haddad, the coastline is not particularly good weather, blue sky and beautiful sea, fun washing rock and, while you walk and relax. I think, however, hot, really hot, so be sure and hydration would be better. I felt we took me by car to locals, but access is not so good.show original
Access to the island is by a bridge.
