Aoshima Island, Miyazaki

(4.2/5 based on 400+ reviews on the web)
Meet the friendly feline inhabitants of Aoshima Island, an island known for its large population of cats. In fact, cats outnumber humans by a ratio of around 6:1 on the island, a fact that becomes immediately clear when arriving on the twice-daily ferry into the harbor. The island, 30 minutes by boat from Ehime prefecture, was home to around 900 people in 1945. Cats were brought to the island to help the fishermen catch mice that were getting onto their boats, and the population has grown steadily ever since. A visit to Aoshima Island represents just the start of the adventure when you use our Miyazaki trip itinerary planner to plot your vacation.

  • A good place to walk in front of the hotel as the wind blows cold, but it's a pleasant place to enjoy long views.

  • On the small island of around 1.5 kilometers, Qingdao, as a Holy Island, usually is on the island of aoshima Shinto shrine priest but could not, but now across the bridge March, anyone can. Surprise is a landscape of rock formations known as the 'Ogre's washboard'. On the rocks generated by wave erosion and uplift is the orderly staves.
