Irabu Bridge, Miyakojima

(4.7/5 based on 500+ reviews on the web)
Cross the ocean on Irabu Bridge, a bridge connecting the islands of Miyako and Irabu. Measuring 3,540 m (11,610 ft), the structure stands as one of the longest bridges in the world, and its island-hopping span has been impressively engineered, with construction starting in 2006 and taking nine years to complete. More convenient for locals than the ferries that used to cross the divide between the islands, the bridge still allows tourists to soak in the views at a pleasant pace. Speed limits on the bridge remain restricted, making it easier to admire the ocean, islands, and the bridge itself without holding up traffic. A viewing platform in the center provides a good place to snap some photos. Make Irabu Bridge part of your personalized Miyakojima itinerary using our Miyakojima holiday planner.

  • Because it does not show on the bridge enter Irabu Island facility to rent a car navigation system caution! So probably there's code or marker points to the car rental office, driving to it. And without it we went to the port of Hirara lol well, bridge is way higher, like roller coasters. You can take pictures there is driving alone feels so good, get down from the car and feel the wind. Just across the bridge towards Irabu from Miyako Island shops, nice view from the second floor.

  • There's a bridge between when last I visited Miyako-jima no Irabu island and Miyako Island. Studium in ship until Irabu Island, previously the best! There was better because the day was near the typhoon winds, parked the car on the way, photo shoot, but everyone in was blown and was taking a hard look. Want to go is fine, also.
