  • Now much of it is school, there is no much sense of ruins of a castle. Full exhibition but few exhibits. Is around the ruins of a round I and staff turning karahori, steep cliffs and ruins of a castle. Furthermore, as currently have major gate restoration, 9/2019 seems to be completed.

  • Recent development is the site of the Mito Castle once. Are now exclusively schools school district. I think near the gates and moat remained, but the so-called castles, such as the scene of the old thinking.

  • Never left the building because the thought of Mito Castle is a beautiful white-washed walls, have a taste to take a walk and very clean. So still have some restoration work in the future is fun. I think rare active school is located on the Castle.

  • Major bridge across from the Kodokan in Mito Castle is kuinji except not left nothing but old buildings. In addition to the Ordinance of the Tokugawa shogunate violent clan in contention (Hiromichi war) and Meiji waste Castle burned and damaged, bites the coup de grace by 8/1945 Mito air raid, he lost it. But site not shopping and residential area, maintains the atmosphere of the Castle and school zone while school is in almost all areas. Signs and monument, the gate was restored, which is built here and there from major bridge. From the main gate, ninomaru Palace trail (sign only), ninomaru Pavilion (formerly, believe House mark) (sign only) the three-storied Tower trail from the Edo period have survived "chinquapin trees" (over 400 years), on the north side area was by far "Sugiyama gate" (restore). Etc. Further advancing across the Honjo bridge is the ruins of the honmaru. Medicine Medical gate (hashizume gate) in the ruins of the Castle, and Mito primary school (primary school in Ibaraki) and now here. It seems that only Mito castle ruins this gate was relocated to the Castle has long since burned down the existing. Could you visited is the grounds of the school. And directly down the Hill and turn right to the Honjo didn South of this area, so that "rail town Sakashita-Mon" (reproduction), followed by land of the light 圀's birth and Mito station. Now the reconstruction to Mito Castle buildings! Restoring the Mito Castle burnt down before the plan says there is much good was not so it seems. Cleverly using topography of the natural turf, but no stone walls (earthworks and empty mine only), the donjon was not built. On the whole you would say was represent the spirit of the Mito clan frugal the castle was a very well put. Considered in the Lord is not obligation of 参覲, in addition to the reason for that was the era of peace and built the final form of the castle during the warring States period already, is said to be hard financially was resident in Edo for the castle in Mito did not put yell too much ( Koishikawa Korakuen garden in the Edo period daimyō marks compared. But it is). Approach to explore heritage left in the Mito Mito is attraction than hard at and I think, unfortunately, is not. Also, Mito business overall I care is scarce, so even here, close to tourist attractions, souvenir shops, restaurants, tourist information not maintained. If you buy a souvenir train station building. East West moat mound worthy to remain, especially cherry season is tasteful, is recommended.
