Art Tower Mito, Mito

3.4
#1 of 9 in Museums in Mito
Art Tower Mito (ATM), symbolized by the 100-meter-tall metal tower that stands in its plaza, is a comprehensive cultural facility divided into three sections: a concert hall, a theater, and a gallery for contemporary art. Having opened in 1990 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Mito's designation as an official city, the ATM complex has served as the venue for a wide variety of planned events, including musical concerts, dramatic productions, and art exhibitions featuring both Japanese and foreign artists. In addition, it has broadened the scope of its mission to act as a base for locally-produced cultural activities. In the future, ATM will continue to be a locus of creative activities, transmitting artistic culture from Mito to the rest of the world.

  • I went to the art 3/14 was supposed to like ago visit. First of all go to the entrance to it is hard to understand. Special signs, such as not on the floor, or go to the underground passage and is doom and gloom. I just barely got in and the ticket 200 yen purchase. Bus one-day discount tickets cannot be used only in the Museum of art. Horribly views arrived at slowly lift the narrow. And dull. Is the analogy of the boiler room like space. No place to sit. Than say seating platform. Was far from alone in some places where vision of 20 centimeters in diameter round window is hard to see and enjoy the panoramic view. I don't think want to come again, and not long of course. Look more interesting, but the tower was. It was a tower I cannot understand who made it made going to say. I do not at all worth 200 yen.

  • A spectacular 100 meter high tower which is visible around the area and landmarks the actual modern museum site. If you want to go up you do not have to visit the museum itself. You can pay inside the...  more »
  • Visited 18 Buri. Understand going so slowly up top in the elevator Tower boarded alone is quite high. I believe and have good views at the top, but now his alone so high, I'm ashamed I left out the waist. In an elevator on the way back, back to Earth soon! And desperately hoped. But the badly fluffed by Mito tourist spot. If you are not a fear of heights, try from the top of the tower.

  • The art tower and grounds is a very pleasant space. It was affected by the 2011 earthquake so its best to check the official website for up-to-date information.
  • Quirky museum and tower.
  • very artistic place in Mito
  • NICE
  • From Mito station 20 minutes. Cultural complex composed of three Concert Hall in the center of the theater, contemporary art gallery, private space. About 20 years ago, to feel like once a year. Even though can't go, contemporary art gallery, art Tower Mito alone went to the theatre and concert hall. Playing the pipe organ in the entrance hall is a musical experience came in the theater's none at all. Contemporary art gallery featuring the street exhibition's contemporary art, artist of the season that it. No choice on the Joban line to Mito and the Biennale of the 2015 recently and was surprised when I saw Jeff Wall exhibition in 1997 or 1999 exhibition of Ilya Kabakov, Nomura Hitoshi exhibition around the year 2000 and. It's not going to visit once a year.
