Statue of Liberty, Minato

Monument
See one of New York's most recognizable landmarks in the middle of the Japanese capital as you look up at Statue of Liberty, a replica of the famous American statue. Constructed in 1998 to commemorate the ''French Year of Japan'' (the original having been a gift to the US from the people of France), the 12.25 m (40 ft) tall statue has long outlasted its originally planned one-year stint overlooking Tokyo Bay. Backed by an impressive bridge and surrounded by a peaceful garden area, the statue suits the urban surroundings of contemporary Japan well. • I was surprised and confused when I saw this statue and it, frankly, doesn't fit in there at all. It seems quite Disney-like.  more »
  • This is a miniture version of the Lady in NYC...and you can get some great shots of her with the city in the background!!  more »
  • Yes, there is a smaller version of the Statue of Liberty in the park overlooking the harbor. Shopping mall next to it, and the harbor views are nice.  more »

  • Nice place. The Lady Liberty is of course smaller than the original one in New York but it's still big enough for a background of your selfie or group photo. The waterfront view is also amazing. Close to Tokyo Cruise too.
  • If you're just walking about and happen to stumble across this gem, it offers a nice bridge to take good photos and selfies from. It's quite easy to get past the tourist. Behind, you've got a great view of the television building, and ahead of the statue, a wonderful of the water and city. If you walk down you can take some lovely photos of the Sakura, if in bloom.
  • I've seen the real one in New York, but I randomly happened across this one. It's not as big as you want it to be, but all in all not a bad Statue of Liberty. 2nd best one I've seen.
  • We were very surprised to see this statue when we explored the area. A cool and funny surprise!
  • Homage to the real Statue of Liberty, although a much reduced size. This is a focal centre for the Odaiba park which runs out to the ocean and affords nice views of the Rainbow Bridge. It is a very relaxing place in which to stroll around and finish with a trip to the mall for refreshments.
