See one of New York's most recognizable landmarks in the middle of the Japanese capital as you look up at Statue of Liberty, a replica of the famous American statue. Constructed in 1998 to commemorate the ''French Year of Japan'' (the original having been a gift to the US from the people of France), the 12.25 m (40 ft) tall statue has long outlasted its originally planned one-year stint overlooking Tokyo Bay. Backed by an impressive bridge and surrounded by a peaceful garden area, the statue suits the urban surroundings of contemporary Japan well. • Fun tour in the Bay of Tokyo and meets with this replica of the statue of liberty. Familiar with New York, it can happen to make pictures that resemble the original. The view is quite nice with the Rainbow Bridge and the "skyline" Tokyo.

  • This monument is a replica of the statue of liberty in Paris who was brought to Japan and exposed for about a year at Odaiba Seaside Park beginning in April 1988 as a commemoration of the year of France in Japan and as it celebrated 40 years of twinning also in Paris with Kyoto. The statue is high 12.25 metres and weighing about nine tons but, clearly, cannot rival the American sister and you just have to see it with a franco-Japanese Union symbol and not as a copy of a marvel.
