Shiba Park, Minato

4.0
#36 of 254 in Parks in Tokyo
Nature / Park
Visit the country first public park at Shiba Park, established in 1873. Sections of the grounds date back to the Edo period, and a 14th-century temple lies nearby. Wander the pathways around the compact park, take in the temple (used famously in the film "Wolverine"), and visit the ravine with its 20 m (66 ft) zelkova tree. Enjoy scenic views of the Tokyo tower, and consider bringing along a picnic to savor on one of the manicured lawns. Where to stay in Tokyo

Tokyo abounds with excellent places to stay, from luxury affairs to humble budget-friendly lodgings. Its glittering skyscrapers house numerous international four- and five-star hotels, both in the populous cultural hotspots of Shinjuku and in the business centers of Akasaka and Shinbashi. Meanwhile, hostels catering to the shoestring traveler lie scattered throughout the city. For a memorable, distinctly Japanese experience, seek out a ryokan, a traditional bed and breakfast with tatami floor mats and sliding screen doors.

  • Nice park close to the tower. Nothing in particular about it, just one of many green lungs in Tokyo. Ok playground at Northern end.  more »
  • Lots of flowers, plants, trees. A cool place to have a walk and enjoy the view of the bay. Great photo spots, in particular The Statue of Liberty. The park is spacious enough and one does not get the ...  more »

  • Beautiful and stunning. Worth the trip here if local or foreign as the cherry blossom view alone is worth the trip. Very well maintained and classic temple area with well manicured elegant setting. Nice for a stroll or a serious photo session due to its location right next to Tokyo tower.
  • It's a beautiful peaceful Park, with very green grass. Great view of the Tokyo Tower and definitely a place to go to get out from all the hustle of Tokyo and just relax.
  • Beautiful and lively place but ruined by the amount of people. You can barely move.
  • Beautiful park with a view of Tokyo Tower. It has a memorial to Hiroshima and Nagasaki where it holds one of the flames left from the explosions. The park is also next to some temples and shrines, which are always nice to look at.
  • Nice park. The place is just what you need when you want to relax
