Sengaku-ji Temple, Minato

4.2
Admire the stories to be heard at Sengaku-ji Temple, a famous Soto Zen Buddhist temple. Best known as the final resting place of the 47 Ronin, the temple's graveyard has a particularly powerful atmosphere and attracts pilgrims from across the country and farther afield. The true story of the 47 Ronin has become one of the most regularly told tales of the samurai code. In 1702, after avenging their unjustly punished master, the 47 Ronin committed ritual suicide, and their actions have been heralded throughout the ages as testament to the resilience, loyalty, and honor that lies at the heart of the samurai code. • If you are not a fan of this religion, to "tick" to visit, you can!) I must say that it is located from the point of view of accessibility is not very convenient. Navigator, it indicated that it is 800 meters from the hotel "pehom", and since 13-30 was planned etc. tour, why not go after a hearty breakfast, I decided to and followed the "route" strictly speaking, when I arrived, I realized that, like most such Temples to watch something nothing, alas!) ... Yes, you can visit the cemetery, but it's really an amateur!))), bearing in mind that sooner or later ". all there will be. " You can look at the Mini Museum, located on the right hand, on a course of movement from the entrance and see "wooden idols", which is also a very specific entertainment ... Otherwise, this Temple is no different from many others and if you want to "kneel down and take your shoes off" then you can do it in more accessible and more famous locations! In General, place popularized only due to its history of coincidences 47 Ronin, not more than that! P.s. If not 800 m Navigator and free part am. .. and a hearty breakfast, as an incentive, here's ... ...-I would not go here for sure!)))

  • Went to this shrine and found it is so peaceful. We pay respect to the 47 warriors. The temple looks great and there is a small museum too. It's just 2 mins walk from the train station.  more »
  • Grave of Asano Takumi head famous Ronin and AKO warriors. Here is always always bustling with incense smoke. Between the gate and the middle gate of Oishi kuranosuke. Plum Stone wells wash the neck associated with incidents in the precinct and bloodstained, bloodstained, tadaomi storehouse fan, but video is a must-see. People want to learn more about AKO faithful retainer would visit the AKO Samurai House.

  • A lovely temple to visit, beautiful, serene and humbling. The museum is small but the admission is cheap so worth doing. Definitely recommended to anyone staying in Takanawa, or even vaguely near.
  • A little temple between buildings, silent and almost desert. Few people arrives here, to the place of rest for the 47 ronin.
  • This is the resting place of the famous 47 Ronin. A very tranquil place with all the graves placed according to their living quarters.
  • If you love Japanese Culture and history, this is a must see. If you want a calm, serene temple, also a good choice.
  • You've seen the movie now see the graves of the 47 Ronin. Well kept temple with friendly staff; lots of incense burning
