Stroll across Rainbow Bridge, a 798 m (2,618 ft) suspension bridge spanning northern Tokyo Bay and offering sweeping views of the city. Completed in 1993, the bridge includes walkways on the north and south sides of its lower deck. From the north side, see the inner harbor and iconic tower; from the south, observe the bay and, on particularly clear days, catch a glimpse of Mount Fuji in the distance. At night, colorful lights illuminate the bridge, while walkers stop at the benches positioned near the support towers to talk and reflect on scenery. Note that bicycle riding is not permitted. • Completed in 1993 after 6 years of work on the capital's skyline is silhouetted Japanese Rainbow Bridge and is inspired by the famous Brooklyn Bridge without however reach its magnificence. Path at all hours of the day as it serves as a link between Shibaura and Odaiba, is especially lovely with the lights of sunset and night lighting.

  • We were staying at Grand Nikko and when you eat or walk outside you see this. George Washington replica as a backdrop for the Statue of Liberty. It is beautiful day or night. Certainly worth a look se...  read more »
  • I gave it an average because there was no rainbow. However it was good for the sight. One of the best views ive seen in tokyo so far.
  • The view is nice and that's it. Asides the obvious, it can be windy, and shake. It's loud and noisy, it can smell of fumes. You have to get on (the Tokyo side) through a building. Cyclists aren't allowed to ride across, and must have their ride disabled. Pedestrians were an afterthought.
  • Good bridge. Very effective for moving over water. Would recommend if you need bridge.
  • Rainbow bridge is quite a nice view when you see it at night. I didn't know this and a lot of others didn't know but you're able to walk or ride your bicycle across the bridge. After I found out, I would go jogging across the bridge once every other week, although it can get quite windy at times because it is a bridge of course.
  • Good: nice view of Tokyo Bay. Bad: loud (walkway next to a major road), in winter open only until 6pm (last entry 5:30). Possible to pass with a bicycle, but inconvenient - can't really ride it.
  • Very disappointing pedestrian access. Cyclists forced to dismount and attach a wooden plank on their wheels and the pedestrian access closes far too early forcing you to go the long way round back to mainland. Very poor pedestrian unfriendly decisions made when building this bridge.
