Kyu Shiba Rikyu Garden, Minato

(4.2/5 based on 200+ reviews on the web)
One of two remaining Edo-period clan gardens in the bustling metropolis, Kyu Shiba Rikyu Garden affords serene respite and visions of a time long past. Originally built in the 17th century, the garden stood on the banks of Tokyo Bay and boasted a central pond of salt water. Disaster struck in 1923, when fire destroyed all buildings and trees after the Great Kanto earthquake. Thankfully, the garden was quickly restored and opened to the public. Spread across 43,071 sq m (463,607 sq ft), the manicured park offers plenty of space for a quiet stroll, with terrapins, carp, and little egrets (as well as some seasonal waterfowl) observable as you circle the pond. There are no amenities within the garden, so consider bringing a packed lunch and finding a quiet bench away from the city hubbub. • Afford time going to and from Haneda Airport in Hamamatsu-Cho was a transfer had not stopped somewhere? Look and the opening hours for this soon stopped. Today another late opening hours.... In the small, quaint Japan garden. Nice convenient walk from hamamatsucho station away, make a short stop. It was a weekday morning was chartered status.

  • I tried by traveling along the way, there was a time. Is a small garden, but close to the train station, is the best cheap admission. Wrong, however, the station's exit, and round! and will not and do not go around (very did I laugh)

  • Hama Rikyu Park size larger but likes this one. From Jr Hamamatsu-Cho station very close by you will feel Japan garden looks good and the size is small enough and so rather condensed attractions in a short time to enjoy the whole thing.
