Former Shiba Rikyu Gardens, Minato

4.2
#24 of 374 in Parks in Tokyo
One of two remaining Edo-period clan gardens in the bustling metropolis, Former Shiba Rikyu Gardens affords serene respite and visions of a time long past. Originally built in the 17th century, the garden stood on the banks of Tokyo Bay and boasted a central pond of salt water. Disaster struck in 1923, when fire destroyed all buildings and trees after the Great Kanto earthquake. Thankfully, the garden was quickly restored and opened to the public. Spread across 43,071 sq m (463,607 sq ft), the manicured park offers plenty of space for a quiet stroll, with terrapins, carp, and little egrets (as well as some seasonal waterfowl) observable as you circle the pond. There are no amenities within the garden, so consider bringing a packed lunch and finding a quiet bench away from the city hubbub. • In the Park, some trees of someiyoshino and begun to bloom here and there and. I wanted to look so beautiful when in bloom, so you want to go. It was a feeling now that there is somewhat of a plum blossom. At the Hamamatsu-Cho station and admission is very easy to relax or go to places 150 yen and thought.

  • I wonder, would such a bleak winter park in La, and construction was in full swing. Japan feels the garden rather than the city of greenery was even close enough so I don't feel complex compared to the Park felt cramped dabdabhage. Flowering season, which may look like, but at least it is a downer in the dead of winter offer yen.

  • Outwith its walls are 38 million people; within its walls is peace. Beautifully designed and well maintained, the garden has wandering paths around the central pond, with benches and shelter to encourage taking the garden slowly. I can attest that the autumn colours are lovely.
  • One of the beautiful garden in Tokyo, Japan. Outside the garden there is small kids area where kids can enjoy sliding, swinging, and climbing. Garden has beautiful pond or lake in middle. Ther wooden bridge adding beauty to garden. You can take walk around it and enjoy beautiful greenary.
  • My favorite Japanese garden in Tokyo. Traditional garden surrounded by buildings giving a wonderful contrast between the old and new Tokyo. In bonus there is an archery hidden nearby the entrance.
  • It's so pretty, and I especially like the view from the little mount. I also like the fish in the lakes. We took pictures of them.
  • Calm and beautiful. Entrance is cheap.
