Daiba Park, Minato

4.0
#21 of 254 in Parks in Tokyo
A tiny man-made canon fort island designed to protect Tokyo against US gunboats, Daiba Park offers panoramic views of the city’s skyline, with Rainbow Bridge, Fuji TV tower, Decks Tokyo Beach, and nearby Odaiba Park’s Statue of Liberty visible. Remains of canons, an old artillery battery, and that of a boat launch stand on the island, surrounded by maple, zelkova, and pine trees. Spanning 29,963 sq m (322,519 sq ft), the island opened as a park in 1928 and was connected to the mainland by a landfill. The park sits 12 minutes by foot from either Odaiba-Kaihin-Koen or Tokyo Teleport stations. Inspirock's itinerary builder makes planning a Tokyo trip simple and quick.

We visited this park in November with all the Christmas illuminations already installed and it really is wonderful. The giant gundam is impressive and the entire environment of Odaiba is modern and attractive.

Odiaba park is a neat place. Lots of plenty of japanese history here. It is the location where. Commodore Perry confronted Japan and got them to open the doors to the world.

Beautiful square shaped park with wonderful views of the bay and the Rainbow bridge. Usually not crowded so very nice to take a relaxing walk around it. At night is not very well lit.

Where to stay in Tokyo

Tokyo abounds with excellent places to stay, from luxury affairs to humble budget-friendly lodgings. Its glittering skyscrapers house numerous international four- and five-star hotels, both in the populous cultural hotspots of Shinjuku and in the business centers of Akasaka and Shinbashi. Meanwhile, hostels catering to the shoestring traveler lie scattered throughout the city. For a memorable, distinctly Japanese experience, seek out a ryokan, a traditional bed and breakfast with tatami floor mats and sliding screen doors.
