Entsuin, Matsushima-machi
(4.5/5 based on 160+ reviews on the web)
Built in 1646, Entsuin represents the most important temple of the area, which also serves as the mausoleum of Date Mitsumune. Unfortunately, the lord died young, at the age of 19. A statue depicts him on a white horse, surrounded by his faithful devotees. Tour the interiors to see the gold-leaf decor, with Western symbols such as hearts, spades, and crosses. The grounds of the temple contain several gardens, each with a different theme. Talk a walk through the rose and rock gardens, and then grab a bite at the restaurant on site. • It's getting cold, but visit family during the day on Saturday. Not only this day, warm, perfect sightseeing weather. Staff manning such description. Here is lit up at night more than a day, seems to be good match leaves. Say day 500 yen and 300 yen, night, makes sense. Visit once and temples of Kyoto atmosphere anyway. Sorry forgot the camera.

  • Rain is awful, so I was just like pay 300 yen also went too stunning fall foliage. Leaves are many and very beautiful. Lighted up at night that seems to look like. If you had lower a lot of souvenirs at the reception desk was, could enjoy a rainy day but 10 minutes.

  • From the cruise ports of call visited Matsushima. Really lit up so I wanted to go at that time, but very cold in the rain, went 4:00 PM. Foliage is about 3 minutes. But there is, is very good. I think impossible, without lighting up, go in the late afternoon and many others, it's nice. Than light because the admission is a little less.

  • Matsushima Fall Light Up at Entsuiin Temple Every fall, the folks at Entsuiin temple in Matsushima pull out all the stops and make magic happen. In this case, the magic in question is for Matsushima's annual Fall Light Up event, which also includes an event Friday and Saturday nights at the historical Kanrantei teahouse, a food truck pavillion, scenic night boat rides to see the color on the outlying islands, and even a free foot bath. Tickets for the Entsuiin portion of the event are 500 yen per adult and 200 yen for elementary and junior high school students. For those eager to enjoy the fall colors in northern Japan but lacking the time to take a trip to the mountains, this event is perfect. The doors to Entsuiin open at 5:30 and the event runs until 9PM. If you're interested, come soon as the Light Up experience is only available until November 23rd. Remember at the temple to slow down to take your best shots in the dark. Selfie sticks, tripods, monopods and drones are not allowed within the temple gardens, so a steady hand would be beneficial. This event does attract a small crowd, and with temperatures dropping, dress warm and come early to ensure the best possible experience.
  • The most stunning Japanese gardens I've seen. The variety! Bamboo grove, rose garden, lake, rock garden, cedars, summer house, moss... an absolutely perfect spot, take your time and enjoy.
  • Very nice gardens, including a stone garden.

  • It is a tourist staying at Matsushima in the next morning. I visited with pamphlets in the Inn. Located right next to zuiganji Temple. It is a temple of date Masamune's 嫡孫 "mitsumune'sfather public". Daffodils symbolizes the rose hasekura tsunenaga led the keicho missions to Europe was the shrine of sankeiden, brought back from the West and Florence are drawn. Why is the rose garden found. Grounds covered with MOSS, is a beautiful place. That day was the rain, but Moss more shine. Do not miss the karesansui garden.
