Nawate Shopping District, Matsumoto

(2.7/5 based on 220+ reviews on the web)
Running alongside the Metoba-gawa River, Nawate Shopping District represents a stone-paved row of around 50 charming shops. During the 17th century, the street marked the border between the residences of the samurai class and the commoners on the opposite side. In present day, souvenir hunters have a range of interesting establishments to peruse, with shops offering antiques, curios, and knickknacks. Should you get hungry, explore options at the food stalls. Keep your eyes open for the statues of samurai frogs--popular photograph points that have earned the strip its nickname of "Frog Street." • It was a small street with short distance, selling food and souvenirs. There was a shrine when you walk almost to the end. Interesting street for a short walk. It's hard to miss this street while you ...  more »
  • Naka River lends itself more lively feel. Famous 4 pillar shrine stands on the left hand entrance here. There are a lot of small shops, exciting! Famous frog (? ) Like a frog could have been everywhere.

  • "Frogs", the symbol of nawate Street was wondering what more cool shops are lined up and toy stores, had seen little old Hara-Juku wind. Very cluttered though, sorry. Looking for Japanese grocery store took Spurs disappointing to on vacation. But taking advantage of shopping, more high quality craft shops can arrange (AKIOKA like. )
