Visit Shinjiko Lake, an impressive natural feature surrounded by plenty of attractions. The scenery of the lake and surrounding areas can be explored by land or water, with a number of cruise companies offering trips out onto the lake. With a circumference of 47 km (29 mi), the lake represents the seventh largest body of water in the country. A brackish lake where freshwater and saltwater blend together, the lake supports a diverse number of aquatic species, including whitebait, sea bass, eels, and shijimi shellfish. Head to one of the lakeside seafood restaurants to sample dishes made with what are commonly known as the "seven delicacies of Shinji-ko." Using our world travel planner, Matsue attractions like Shinjiko Lake can form part of a personalized travel itinerary.
