  • A very beautiful and quiet temple, with little tourist and you will find peace of mind here。
  • I loved how there were hardly any people, so you can fully appreciate the temple structures and grounds. The giant turtle is a must-see. Very unusual and noble looking.
  • This is yet another beautiful temple and it's close to Matsue Castle.
  • It is a quiet place. Want to visit in the afternoon and deep snows. And sight is the turtle!

Where to stay in Matsue

With its canals, rivers, and lakes central to the look and everyday life of Matsue, many visitors arrive wanting a view of the water. And they're certainly in luck, because the city has placed its primary accommodations up close to the waterways. Traditional "ryokan" (guesthouses) with "onsen" (traditional Japanese spas) sit to the north of the river, while a good number of basic hotels lie to the south. Look around the countryside to the south for clusters of retreats in scenic areas, including traditional ryokan and modern hotels with onsite onsen.
