4/5 based on 850+ reviews on the web
Founded in 656, Yasaka Shrine remains one of Kyoto's most popular shrines, especially appealing to tourists during the cherry blossom season. View the honden (the most sacred area of a Shinto shrine) and the oratory within the main hall before checking out the performance stage lined with hundreds of lanterns. In early April, when cherry blossoms are in bloom, the temple is especially busy, as it is during the summer festival of Gion Matsuri in July. • 建議挑選祗園祭的時間過來這裡,平常時間來大部分是逛完花見小路或清水寺時順便過來拍個照,走馬看花一下!
  • Gion tourism after the visit. It was crowded with many tourists. The many gods? I especially ask the God of prosperity has been. It was also nice.

  • 八坂神社就在清水寺旁,走20分鍾就到了。神社中有棵老櫻花樹,晚上拍照特別美。除了景點外,晚上還有超多流動小食店!在櫻花樹下吃章魚燒,正!
  • This is the Yasaka Shrine, or also known as the Gion Shrine (located in Gion of course). From what I was told, the shrine was founded over 1300 years ago, and apparently is one of the most famous and important shrines in Japan. This shrine is central to the celebration of Gion Matsuri which is like one of the largest celebration with parades in the month of July. The shrine is brightly painted red, and is really attractive in the day time. In the front, is located 3 large brass bells with thick ropes for ringing. It's quite an experience just standing there and watching people ringing the bells. This place is also quite popular during the cherry blossom season with its proximity to Maruyama park.
  • Went here in fall and I agree with others, it is pretty! Aside from the shrine utself, the pathway to the shrine filled with lots of food stall, the park at the back was great, and the view to the main street when you walk out was awesome at nights! Worth a visit in between your shopping day at Kyoto!
  • Very beautiful building structures found in the shrine. The lanterns illuminated at night are even more attractive.
  • Went today. It was nice but too bad the blossoms didn't bloom yet.
  • The shrine itself was not amazing but the surrounding gardens and street food were nice.
